Hop to Hop annual 10K walk/run 2016 – a smashing success
Despite some wet weather on Sunday, October 16th, hundreds of colorful runners and walkers brightened up the streets of Springfield and Eugene this weekend as they raised money and awareness for the fight against breast cancer.
Our annual Hop to Hop fundraiser – a 10K walk/run benefiting our local chapter of the American Cancer Society – takes place every October in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Although this year’s forecast was less than desirable, participants embraced the rain and completed Hop to Hop in true Oregon style!
Participants took off at 10:00am from Hop Valley’s Springfield Restaurant. Some walked, some ran and some took a quick pit stop at the two-thirds marker, The Cooler, for some water, or beer, or both! The course ended at Hop Valley’s Tasting Room in Eugene’s Whiteaker Neighborhood where participants celebrated with cold beers and delicious burgers.
Even with the inclement weather, this year’s Hop to Hop was a big success! We had more pre-registrations this year than in any of the past years and almost maxed out our event capacity. We’d like to thank all our participants and sponsors for helping make this year’s event unforgettable. We will be hosting a special check presentation to the American Cancer Society in the next few weeks. Stay tuned for more information.
