An American Pastime: Baseball, Peanuts and Beer
What could be better than baseball and peanuts? How about baseball, peanuts and beer? How about baseball, peanuts that have been cooked in beer, and beer? Now we’re talking.
In honor of kicking off baseball season, we’re sharing this beer-infused recipe for boiled peanuts. Salty, a bit spicy, perfectly soft and oh-so delicious, boiled peanuts are synonymous with Southern cuisine. Add in a little Hop Valley Alphadelic IPA for a Northwest twist and you’re sure to have a snack that’s a big hit.
Directions:
Add the following to your slow cooker:
- 1 lb peanuts (rinse first until the water runs clear)
- 2 cloves garlic (whole cloves are fine)
- 2 tablespoons season salt
- 1/8 c. salt
- 1/2 cup Alphadelic
- 1 tsp hot sauce
- Water to cover peanuts
Cook on high for 8-12 hours, depending on how soft you like your peanuts.
