Willamette Resources & Educational Network (WREN) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, located in the West Eugene Wetlands, whose mission is to practice and promote land stewardship through education, science and partnerships. WREN has served more than 54,000 people in its programs, since its inception in 2000. WREN’s programs are focused in four areas: a) formal environmental education, comprising field trips and classroom presentations that meet State Common Core as well as Next Generation Science Standards, for grades K-12; b) informal environmental education for families, children, and adults, through guided Wetland Wanders, Family Exploration Days, and other events for the whole community; c) Citizen Science, which includes projects focused on water testing, soil testing, flora and fauna surveys and the like, overseen by an applicable scientist, but performed in large part by volunteer community members; and d) land stewardship, which can include restoration projects, removal of invasive species, and the like.
